Pete versus toby is a relatively new label first conceived in Byron Bay in 2006 by Marco and Paschal. I used to have a stall at Bondi markets and that is where i first saw the label introduce itself to Sydney and then beyond.

The label has grown from strength to strength and has made a name for itself in the street and dance scene. Meeting them personally i understand their design philosophy of “taking long held beliefs and smashing it” on another level. It is unbelievable that they don’t implement any real marketing strategies but one thing is for sure Pete versus toby is a label to watch… this is only the beginning!

next ish… HOT EVENT > Dj Cassidy’s Birthday

Last week at Dj Cassidy celebrated his 28th birthday at the New York City Public Library. His parties are notoriously hard to get into with this years being no different. The line outside was a hot mess and the guest list also included friends Jay Z, Nas, Maxwell, Russell Simmons, Treach and Heavy D to name a few.

There were also special performances by The Retro kids, Bobby Brown and the notoriously reclusive Rakim. The night was a star studded event and lived up to expectations…..question is where will the next one be in 2010? No matter what you can be sure it will be one of the hottest events in NYC.

After a long hiatus (8yrs) from the industry and the  stage, Maxwell has made a triumphant return with a new album ” BLACKsummers’ night”. This album exceeds expectations and doesn’t disappoint on any level… Maxwell embraces us with his sensuality, honesty and leaves you feeling raw and affected by his soul.

In an interview in late April Maxwell explains that his love for the music and his gift is what brought him back, not the fame and he owes it to himself and the fans to share his music.
